Ramblings

Well, it has been a while! My preacher brought up my blog in church, and I admit, I had to fly home to see what in the world I had even written about. And then I realized I could not concentrate on English, so I would not waste time--gotta blog!

Lately, I have felt completely worn out. I felt defeated when health care was passed. All of that energy…wasted. But then I realized something: it isn’t over. Okay, I guess the fact that I went to church on a Wed. night for the first time in a long time, and the preacher happened to preach on our country and being active. Kind of a smack in the face…

I do feel rejuvenated. So, phase two, here I come.

As time goes on, I fear how nasty things will inevitably become. This is what I am tired of though: people accusing those who do not support this bill as being uneducated or heartless. Let’s clear something up. You should not argue for or against something unless you have researched and educated yourself. The door swings both ways. I am tired of people claiming “well none of these people even know what’s in the bill, so how can they argue against it?” No one knows what is really in this bill. That’s the problem! The very people who voted it in don’t even have a grasp of it. But, it’s always important to educate oneself. At the same time, people cannot be excused from reading it simply because they support it. That’s like claiming to be a part of a religion while never reading the main text.

I am tired of the confusion. I am tired of not truly knowing how this will affect us. Try to read that bill--I truly giggle at the people who say “well, I have read the bill…” uh, no you have not. Not in its entirety, unless you have been locked away for months. Parts of the bill, maybe, but the whole thing? Get real.

I do know it has passed, but I shudder to think about how a government, that cannot run the current programs (Medicare/Medicaid, etc.), will run the entire system. Okay, so what if I can keep my healthcare? Fact is, I’m forced to buy it. Not only that, but I also think about how are we going to pay for millions more when we are already bankrupt as a nation? How can you run something effectively when you have no funds? I’m not saying I like the power of money, but let’s face it--this stuff costs. Why are people falling through the cracks as it is? We have something for the poor, elderly, children…what’s wrong here? Maybe, if the government STOPPED THE SPENDING, we’d have more money to mend these social programs that are already in existence. So, yes money is a big part of it. This government’s priorities are not totally about saving lives. If it was about humanity, they’d rearrange their funds and Medicaid would not be bankrupt. Does anyone really think they’ll change their spending habits? If they don’t, this program will be no different.

There is so much involved with this. It’s more than just handing people healthcare. It’s 1/6th of the economy and it will affect multiple aspects of our country.

I don’t really know what will happen. The uncertainty is more frightening that anything…but whatever the case, we’re all Americans, and we will all experience this together. Only time will tell whether the decisions were good or bad…

**This blog is not intended to be a presentation of research. Rather, it’s random thoughts presented when I’m extremely tired. So, excuse the randomness.

  • Jerry Osborne  - Keep you chin and your spirits up Ashleigh!
Ashleigh just know that the. battle we are in is just and we are right. It is worth every bit of what we go through. It is worth our long days and sometimes even longer nights of studying, research, and preperation for the battles that lie ahead of us. The far left isn't going like what we have to say but I assure you this, they will have no choice but to listen. When I say "we" I am referring to We The People. It's time for us to speak out and do it loudly! You are in my prayers, keep up the good work.
  • Katie Jenkins  - We will prevail
I know how you feel. We heard the news on the radio driving to a friends house. My husband yelled/screamed and I wanted to cry. We looked at each other and wondered, what else can happen? How can we possibly pay for this?... I'm tired of talk about left and right wings. I'm not a wing, I'm a person. One who cares deeply about this country and the country that I will one day leave to my children. Thank you for being another voice. Maybe when enough of us speak, the government will start listening.
